Welcome back to the fourth post in the Capture Your Everyday blog series! After my move to Sweet Shoppe Designs some blog features took a little hiatus. Now that I am settled in there I am ready to pick back up where we left off in the Capture Your Everyday series.
As memory keepers we know the importance of capturing the everyday and documenting life. It is easy to get caught up in the hurried flow of the digital world and lose track of what is important in our own memory keeping.
The Capture Your Everyday blog series features simple tips to help keep you on track of remembering the small things in life and in memory keeping. Read on to read more about today’s tip…
I think there comes a time for a lot of scrapbookers (if not all) who are active in the community to get that desire or pull to want to join a creative team. I know I have been there myself before I started designing. We just so caught up in being selected that we sometimes forget about why we are scrapping to begin with.
As exciting as it can be to get that invite to your favorite designer’s creative team or how much you ooh and ahhh over that scrapper you idolize, remind yourself that modern memory keeping is about documenting YOUR memories and letting YOUR creative side run free.
I am not sure how many people outside of memory keeping realize how much of it isn’t just about documenting but about being creative and creating a work of art. Even when started with a sticker book way back in the 80’s, I just didn’t document the stories I wanted to preserve. I wanted to share my stories through art. Share a piece of me.
[pullquote width=”300″ float=”left”]Art is an expression of how you feel. It’s a little piece of you. Your soul. Follow your own heart and don’t try to fit yourself in a box. [/pullquote] With memory keeping today, we are able to get as artsy as we want or keep to the clean side of things. There aren’t any rules about how you create your layouts or books. The scrapbook police won’t show up at your door because you didn’t like small photos or want to fill in every inch of your page. What better way to document your memories than with a piece of YOU in every page?!
So, while it is excited to join teams and get that bit of affirmation from fellow scrappers, remember at the end of the day it is about you. Your memories. Find that style that defines you.
Start scrapping for YOU and the rest will happen when it is time.
