Hey there fellow scrappers! Do you love collecting fonts as much as I do? I LOVE fonts. I can’t get enough of them. I don’t know what it is! They are SO FUN and there are so many great free fonts that I just can’t help myself. And when I find one that I love, I have a tendency to get on a roll and download a whole slew of them before I can bring myself to do anything else!
So, what’s the problem? Well, I download all of these great fonts, but then I don’t use them! Why? Because I’ve gotten comfortable with a few favorites. Plus, I can’t see the sample image in my font display. It’s so small! So guess what? You can change the size of your font sample display! Now when you go to choose a font, you can actually see what fonts you are looking at!
Here’s a screenshot of my font display currently:
That’s pretty tiny. You can see by looking at it that you could have a hard time really getting a good idea of what a font will look like in your work. So let’s make that display bigger so that you can actually see those adorable samples!
It’s super simple to do! Here’s how:
I’m working in Photoshop CS5, so I’ll give you instructions and examples using my program, but I’ll fill you in if you’re working in CS6 or CC as well!
FIRST:
Go to EDIT>PREFERENCES>TYPE just as you can see in the image above.
You’ll see the following display options:
Click the drop down arrow on the font preview size and change it to medium, large, extra large or huge, depending on your preference! Here are my sample views when I select HUGE.
See how much easier it is to view those samples? I may actually get some use out of them now! So change your display so that you can see your fonts, too!
CS6 and CC users:
Instead of going to EDIT>PREFERENCES>TYPE, CS6 now has a TYPE menu all on it’s own. Select TYPE>FONT PREVIEW SIZE and then select your font display size from there!
I hope you found this simple tip easy to follow, and useful, too! Now get to scrapping so you can use some of those great forgotten fonts you downloaded ages ago!

Oh wow! Thank you so much for sharing this tad bit of info! I have been struggling with the minute size of those darned fonts in PSE forever! This was a lifesaver! I can see them better now even with my glasses/contacts on!
