Today is Earth Day. April 22nd is a day many celebrate this amazing planet we live on, support for environmental protection and on some notes, us coming together as the human race. As we celebrate today I always stop to think of how am I helping? How am I hurting?
I know as humans, we aren’t perfect. I also know this place we call home will live on long after we are gone. But the days I see litter along the highways and interstates. The days I see the world’s wildlife disappearing. The damage that we do. It makes me sad. I think if we all did something. Even if it was something small. It would make a difference.
Here is a list of small things that we can all do to help…
1.Turn off anything not in use.
Switch off your lights, TV and anything not in use. Added bonus, unplug when possible.
2. Use a reusable water bottle or thermos:
It’s no secret that bottle water has a negative impact on the environment from how they are created to how they are disposed of.
3. Use a tote when grocery shopping:
Keeping reusable grocery bags in your car is a great way to contribute less to the amount of plastics being used.
4. Pay attention to your water usage:
leaky toilets or faucets, water running while brushing your teeth, are just a few ways we waste water.
5. Buy local produce:
Purchasing from local growers is not only a great way to support your local community but also great for the environment by saving on energy from shipping
